Sheriff Alford
is a graduate of the
Within 52 days of taking office in 1997, Sheriff Alford presided
over the re-certification of the jail at the
Sheriff Alford has worked with the Commissioner's court to improve staff compensation and provide better services to the public. He has helped all of the commissioners precincts develop and man prisoner work crews as well as a cemetery clean-up crew at the Corrections and Services complex.
A
Community Services unit has been added and Neighborhood Watch groups
went from 4 to 15.
Internal operations of the Sheriff's department have been improved
with Employee of the Month awards, an annual Employee Recognition
Day, a uniform allowance and promotions within the department are
now done through a Review Board rather than direct appointment. All
Sheriff's Office personnel must pass drug testing. The jail is being
expanded to better service inmates at a lower cost.
In
1996 Sheriff Alford made promises which he kept and with his
re-election in 2000 and in 2005, he pledges to continue his efforts to offer
good, conservative government and professional law enforcement for
Bob Alford is truly our "Sheriff Who Cares" as exhibited by his dedication to county boards and committees which are committed to improving our quality of life and improve law enforcement activities and services.
Sheriff Alford was un-opposed in the 2005 elections and re-elected to Sheriff of Johnson County.
