School Resource Officers

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office currently has 4 School Resource Officers working within the cities of Johnson County.

The School Resource Officers duties in the schools are the following:             

    1. To establish liaison with school principals, faculty, and students.
    2. To establish and maintain liaison between School Security personnel and other SRO's assigned to school campuses.
    3. To inform the students of their rights and responsibilities as lawful citizens.
    4. To provide liaison between students and social agencies which provide needed services.
    5. To act as a liaison resource to the principal in investigating criminal law violations occurring in the school or on school property.
    6. To assist administration and faculty in formulating criminal justice programs.
    7. To formulate educational crime prevention programs to reduce the opportunity for crimes against persons and property in the schools.
    8. To participate in the Parent-Teacher-Student Association meetings as requested.
    9. To participate in campus activities, student organizations, and athletic events when invited and feasible.
    10. To be aware at all times of the responsibility to improve the image of the uniformed law enforcement officer in the eyes of the students and the community. along with many other responsibilities.

The Johnson County School Resource Officers are as follows along with the School District which they work

 

Jerry Scott started as a reserve officer in 1977 for Alvarado PD, served as Chief of Police in Venus TX and was hired onto Cleburne PD in 1979,  After 21 years Scott retired from Cleburne PD. He is currently assigned to the Alvarado Independent School District. Scott holds a Masters Peace Officers License and Advanced SRO

 

Dusty Ford graduated from the Weatherford Police Academy in 1998 and began working for Johnson County So in 1999 as a reserve officer.  He changed his status to a full time deputy working in the courthouse  then transport, and warrants. Ford is currently assigned to the Venus Independent School District.

 

Terry Talley began her career in law enforcement in 1999 at the Whitney Police Dept in patrol. She came to Johnson County in 2000 as a Transport officer.  Talley is currently a member of the Johnson County mounted patrol division and is assigned to the Alvarado Independent School District.
 

 

Tim Kinman began working for the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in 1989 as a correctional officer.  He worked as correctional officer for 8 yrs and was hired onto Joshua PD as a reserve detective. Kinman was hired into the patrol division at Johnson County in 1997. He is currently a member of the mounted patrol division and assigned to the Godley Independent School District.
 

 

 
Deputy Monica Tharpe began her career in law enforcement in 1997 with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office as a correctional officer.  After 3 months was promoted to a transport officer for approximately 2 years.  Tharpe is currently assigned to the Joshua Independent School District as a SRO..
