The Jail Administrator administers and coordinates all jail activities by establishing operating policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure efficient operation of the facility, safety of staff, and proper care of inmates.

The Jail Administrator, Chief Deputy Tom Craig, is currently in charge of running a 776 bed jail.

 



The jail currently has two Captains, Captain Lisa Miller and Captain Tim Jones over the  direct supervision jail, book-in desk, property, warrants and classification.  There are Four Lieutenants, as well as  Four Sergeants, and four Corporals to supervise on each shift. A total of 100 Detention Officers man the Jail Operations, Pods and Support Section.

The Johnson County Jail  houses 776 inmates,  Johnson County added an additional 176 beds in 2000 and another 288 beds in 2006, bringing the total to 776 beds.

Whereas, the sheriff of Johnson County is responsible for the safe operation and security of the Johnson County Correctional Facility, and whereas, the Johnson County Correctional Facility staff is committed to the preservation of the basic human rights and dignity of the inmate population, as prescribed by the Constitution of the Unites States and the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Be it known that the staff of the Johnson County Correctional  Facility will ensure a high standard of safety and security for the community, detention officers, and inmates. The staff of the Johnson County Correctional Facility will maintain programs, available to every inmate, that will encourage and foster self-respect and dignity. Every measure will be undertaken to ensure each inmate of the Johnson County Correctional Facility  receives fair and humane care in a safe environment.

Johnson County Sheriff's Office currently has 2 warrant deputies are in charge of going out and serving warrants for felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses as well as serving criminal subpoenas.

Transportation of Prisoners to and from court, jail, penitentiary, and other agencies is apart of the duties of the Johnson County Transport deputies.  Johnson County currently have 11 Transport deputies.
