The Jail
Administrator administers and coordinates all jail activities by
establishing operating policies, procedures, and regulations to
ensure efficient operation of the facility, safety of staff, and
proper care of inmates.
The Jail Administrator,
Chief Deputy Tom Craig,
is currently in charge of running a 776 bed jail.

The jail currently has two Captains,
Captain Lisa Miller
and Captain Tim Jones over the direct supervision
jail, book-in desk, property, warrants and classification. There
are Four Lieutenants, as well as Four Sergeants, and four
Corporals to supervise on
each shift. A total of 100 Detention Officers man the Jail
Operations, Pods and Support Section.
The Johnson County
Jail houses 776 inmates, Johnson County added an additional 176
beds in 2000 and another 288 beds in 2006,
bringing the total to 776 beds.
Whereas, the sheriff
of Johnson County is responsible for the safe operation and
security of the Johnson County Correctional Facility, and whereas,
the Johnson County Correctional Facility staff is committed to the
preservation of the basic human rights and dignity of the inmate
population, as prescribed by the Constitution of the Unites States
and the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Be it known that the
staff of the Johnson County Correctional Facility will ensure a
high standard of safety and security for the community, detention
officers, and inmates. The staff of the Johnson County Correctional
Facility will maintain programs, available to every inmate, that
will encourage and foster self-respect and dignity. Every measure
will be undertaken to ensure each inmate of the Johnson County
Correctional Facility receives fair and humane care in a safe
environment.
